Doctoral Fellowship Training at Allow

Allow Wellness is excited to be offering Postdoctoral Fellowship positions - start date flexible between May-October with a rolling addmissions process. The position is one year in duration. Applicants must be graduating from an APA-accredited doctoral program in counseling or clinical psychology. Regarding completion of doctoral dissertation, exceptions will be made for qualified candidates.

Allow Wellness is a boutique psychotherapy practice with a focus on providing the highest quality emotional and nutritional services possible through comprehensive assessment, collaborative team care, and specialized yet integrative treatment interventions. Allow Wellness provides services to multiculturally diverse clients across the lifespan presenting with various concerns including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, identity development concerns, relationship difficulties, self-harm, and trauma. We value having providers with a strong desire, and self-initiative, toward ongoing learning, eagerness to work with new populations and presenting concerns, and an appreciation for integrating various theoretical modalities and interventions to best serve client needs. Additionally, Allow providers practice holistic care (mind+body), cultural humility, and Health At Every Size (HAES ©) in their work with clients.

Allow Wellness expects clinicians to have strong generalist skills in treating depression, general anxiety, identity development concerns, multicultural identity development concerns, and interpersonal/relationship issues. Additionally, we also expect and train clinicians to have strong foundational intervention skills in client centered, emotion process work, CBT, DBT, and substance abuse harm reduction. The practice also receives a significant amount of eating disorder referrals and thus postdocs are expected to demonstrate growing competency over the training year in treating this population and will be provided supervision and training in doing so. Clinicians must be proficient in working within an interdisciplinary treatment team and timely with third-party collaboration efforts.

While Allow Wellness strives to employ clinicians with highly skilled generalist competencies, we also significantly value and encourage the development of additional areas of specialization. The specialty areas are not the focus of the postdoc, nor do they qualify the postdoc status as a specialist upon the completion of the postdoc. Examples of areas of specialization include: OCD, tic disorders, ADHD, health psychology, sexual issues, multicultural client needs, trauma therapy, self-harm, parental coaching, and couples therapy. If granted further employment after postdoc, clinicians are provided further financial assistance in pursuing advanced training (examples include, Gottman couples therapy, EMDR, brainspotting, somatic experiencing, DBT intensives, meditation, biofeedback, parental coaching, functional/integrative medicine amongst others).

The post-doc position is 40 hours per week and a typical breakdown of responsibilities includes 25, 1 hour of receiving individual supervision, 1 hour of receiving group supervision, 1.5 hour seminar, and 1 hour of the provision of supervision of a advanced extern or post-masters fellow. The position is hybrid with 2-3 days in the office.
