Why Allow?
When we thought about the various words we could use to name our practice, we wanted to convey the idea that life is all about balance. Allowing yourself to feel balance is allowing yourself to live in the present. There may be push and pull, good and bad, light and dark, but instead of focusing on extremes, allow yourself to appreciate the balance.
We picked ALLOW because it captures the balance:
☀️between active and passive
☀️between effort and non-doing
☀️between observing and describing
☀️between asking and receiving
When you allow, you don’t need to force anything. Allow yourself to pay attention to details you never noticed before - what do you allow that you weren’t aware of previously? Giving yourself permission to make your own choices lets you take the driver’s seat in your own life. It allows you to become aware of what you permit from yourself and what you permit from others.
Allow yourself to bask in life’s simple joys, knowing that there is wisdom to be found in balance.
Why Water?
You may have noticed that we have a connection to water throughout our website. Why? Our practitioners could talk your ear off about all the reasons water is a symbolic aspect of our practice.
Water is necessary for life. More than half of the human body is water. Our planet is distinct because of water. Water is even stronger than rock in the sense that water wears down rock! Water is extraordinary.
The word Allow is also uniquely connected to water. Water has the enchanting quality of receptivity. It parts to allow anything in, then resumes itself.
Considering that water is so critical to our wellbeing, we had to make it one of the first things you see when you are introduced to ALLOW WELLNESS.
We can’t stress enough how many ways water helps maintain necessary functioning and prevents physical and emotional distress and disease.
Water not only keeps us alive, it is also a symbolic reminder to:
💧reach for help when we feel like we are drowning
💧ride the waves of our life (they always pass)
💧and to be mindful of the vast amazingness of the natural world around us
One beautiful part of engaging with the natural world (like water!) is the way it puts things into perspective. When you’re faced with the overwhelming beauty of existence, it can be a great reminder that the problems you have might not be as big of a deal as you thought they were. The beauty of nature is already here, you just have to look for it. There is always more joy to experience, and the great gift of your life is that you get to find it for yourself.
