Neil O’Shaughnessy, PsyD

Dr. Neil O’Shaughnessy works with adolescents and adults navigating grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and concerns related to eating and body image. He has a particular interest in the complex relationship between sports performance, body image, and eating behaviors. As a former collegiate athlete, he brings a unique understanding of the pressures surrounding performance, identity, food, and one’s relationship with their body.

Dr. O’Shaughnessy takes an integrative and individualized approach to therapy, drawing from cognitive behavioral, existential, and humanistic frameworks. His work focuses not only on alleviating symptoms and emotional distress, but also on helping clients explore deeper questions related to identity, purpose, relationships, and meaning. He believes therapy should be collaborative and tailored to each client rather than driven by a one-size-fits-all approach.

His clinical training has included private practice, outpatient and community-based care, trauma-focused treatment, and inpatient psychiatric settings. These experiences have allowed him to work with clients across the lifespan and with a wide range of psychiatric concerns and have shaped his commitment to providing thoughtful, culturally responsive care.

Dr. O’Shaughnessy earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Midwestern University in 2026 and is completing his postdoctoral training at Allow Wellness. He is currently accepting new clients beginning October 2026.
