Eating disorder professionals believe in the importance of discussing research findings with their patients. Doing so provides individuals with an understanding of a provider's rationale for employing a specific therapeutic approach and thus facilitating meaningful change. This is considered a fundamental component of eating disorder treatment as it can serve as a motivational tool and reduce defensive responses in patients. We have compiled some of our favorite and instrumental information we share with our patients.
